A wall-to-wall count provides a complete physical inventory of materials and products throughout the facility, including raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods, MRO inventory, production areas, staging locations, and other storage areas. These counts are commonly performed for accurate financial reporting, year-end inventory, audits, ownership changes, ERP reconciliation, or when a manufacturer needs to establish a reliable inventory baseline. Production activity may be paused or carefully controlled while the count is completed.
Partial Inventory Counts
Partial counts focus on selected areas or inventory rather than the entire facility. This may include a specific production line, department, material category, storage area, staging location, or group of SKUs.
Partial counts can help investigate discrepancies, verify targeted inventory, or provide needed inventory information while minimizing disruption to production.
This approach is especially useful when a full facility count is unnecessary or impractical.
Cycle Counting
Cycle counting uses recurring partial counts to help maintain inventory accuracy throughout the year.
